Introduction of the University of Agriculture Peshawar Pakistan

Agronomy

Islamia College Peshawar established the Department of Agronomy in 1933. Over time, the department expanded its academic offerings, leading to the creation of additional departments.

In 1968, it was declared a fully independent College of Agriculture. Later, in 1976, it became a faculty, and in 1981, it was granted university status. Since its establishment, Agronomy has been recognized as the parent department at Peshawar's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Agricultural University.

The goal of the Department of Agronomy is to provide high-quality academic training through teaching, research, and outreach in areas such as crop production, crop physiology, stress physiology, crop ecology and climate, seed physiology, seed technology, crop nutrition, natural resource management, and agronomy of arid regions.

The Agricultural University offers specialized courses leading to Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees in various fields, including agriculture, business administration, and computer science. The majority of the faculty members in the Agronomy Department hold PhDs and have completed postdoctoral research in developed countries such as the USA, UK, Japan, Germany, China, and Malaysia.
